About the Jasenovac Research Institute
Preserving Memory. Promoting Justice. Fostering Reconciliation.
Our Mission
The Jasenovac Research Institute (JRI) exists to document, analyze, and teach the truth about the atrocities committed at the Jasenovac camp and across the Balkans during World War II. We collect survivor testimonies, digitize archival records, publish scholarly research, and develop educational programs for schools, universities, and community groups worldwide. By ensuring rigorous historical accuracy and broad public engagement, we keep the memory of victims alive and push for authentic recognition of genocide as the foundation for lasting reconciliation.
Our core activities include:
- Archival Preservation: Digitizing thousands of pages of camp records, letters, and photographs from European and U.S. collections.
- Oral Histories: Recording and hosting survivor interviews.
- Research Publications: Producing peer-reviewed articles and monographs.
- Educational Outreach: Designing curricula, workshops, and webinars.
