Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Jasenovac Death Camp
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the self-liberation of the Jasenovac death camp – a day of remembrance for the hundreds of thousands of victims of genocide in southeastern Europe.
Remembering the Past to Build a Just Future
On April 22, 1945, a group of prisoners at the Jasenovac death camp organized a desperate and heroic escape. Today, we honor the memory of those who perished – Serbs, Jews, Roma, and political dissidents – and all who resisted fascist terror.
The Jasenovac Research Institute continues its mission to preserve memory, educate future generations, and seek global recognition for the crimes committed at Jasenovac.
